Family fun- EQ style!

Family fun-EQ style!

Well after a very stressful day yesterday we had a lot of family time today. I'll start with my mortifying experience going out to lunch with Lisa and Carter. Lisa and I planned to go to lunch at Grandmothers which I will never attempt with my children again. It started out ok until Cooper choked on a chicken strip and proceeded to vomit all over himself and the booth bench. It took a while for them to take our orders and quite awhile for them to get our food. Cooper got a bit antsy and decided to get out of the booth. I was ok with him standing next to the table but then he started walking back and forth across the narrow walkway where the waitresses walk back and forth. I decided it was time to get our coats on and get out but our waitress had not brought our bills to us. This is when the worst of the worst happened. Cooper started to throw a fit while I was holding him and threw his head back smacking right in to the temple of an old lady walking by. Let me just say, I felt awful. She got hit very, very hard. To top it off I apologized and felt horrible to which she was not very receptive of. I really hope that her rudeness was out of disorientation but I suspect that she is not a child-lover. Or if she was, she probably isn't anymore. I felt like the entire restaurant was staring me down as we left and will probably never show my face there again. I'm expecting the law suit papers to arrive in the mail any day now. Oh and lets not forget the horrible experience I had taking Cooper to get his haircut earlier that morning. I took him to a "kids haircut" place which I won't name out of the goodness of my heart (and I don't want a second lawsuit for slander). Let me tell you for being a place that specializes in childrens haircuts I was shocked to see that the women there have no clue how to talk to or deal with a 2 year old. They were rude and frustrated that Cooper does not like getting his haircut. They thought they could just put a movie in and he would just sit there and cooperate, HA! Maybe someone should teach them how to communicate with a child using their mouths instead of a remote control. Horrible! I will never go there again. Not to mention they charged $12 for a haircut. Anyway moving on to better days. Today we took the kids to the library and dare I say out to eat (a much more pleasant experience than yesterday). We all took a nap and played together in the basement. Ryan taught Katelyn to play Everquest and they sat and played together for a while. She is just like her Daddy entranced by walking around aimlessly in a world of animated characters. It was cute to see her with the little headset on playing with Daddy. Ryan then scared the bezeezes out of me when I came out of the bathroom looking for him. He was hiding in the kids' play tunnel peaking out the top. I looked straight at it twice and didn't see him. The third time I jumped about six feet in the air when I saw his head peeping out the top right in front of me. The kids thought it was hilarious so I jumped in as well for a photo op! Well, that was our day and that should catch you up on the going ons with our family! Have a great week!

Eggciting Easter

Easter 08

Well, Easter encompassed several days for us this year due to my having to work that weekend. We had plans to decorate eggs and make a cake on Good Friday however Cooper started vomiting that night on top of the wheezing that he had already been doing for a couple of days. He obviously caught what Katelyn had. He vomited 12 times in 5 hours and we really thought we were going to be heading to the ER. Luckily he fell asleep at 10:30 or so and by the next morning he was eating and drinking. We are still battling the wheezing and doing steroid treatments daily which seems to be slowly helping. Katelyn and I did go ahead and dye the Easter eggs on that Friday night while Daddy sat with Cooper downstairs. We mistakenly boiled all of the eggs we had in the fridge not remembering that we needed a couple of eggs for the cake batter. So, on Saturday morning we baked the cake and had fun decorating it before I went to work. Sunday morning we gave the kiddos their Easter gifts which were a huge hit. Katelyn got a really cute picnic basket and Cooper got a wooden bowling set for outdoors along with some other smaller items. Ryan and the kids took off for his parents later that morning since I had to work again and they had a great time. The next day the kids were just dying to have an Easter egg hunt so I filled about 40 eggs with M&Ms and we had a hunt in the basement. They had a blast but needless to say, the M&Ms didn't last long. All in all it was a fun Easter. We have yet to exchange Easter gifts with my side of the family but will be doing it soon. In the meantime we have lots of candy to eat!

Misty's Graduation

Misty's Graduation 3-08

Congrats going out to my rockin' sister Misty for graduating with her Bachelors in Accounting. She has been working the last several years really hard and juggling her kids and activities. We had a party for her at Lazlos in Lincoln and later that night we went to PO Pears to listen to Groove Puppet. I am so proud of her and this awesome accomplishment.

IV Therapy :(

Well, this has started off a crazy week for sure. Katelyn went to the sitter Tuesday morning and Gina called Ryan a couple hours later to tell us that Katelyn was throwing up. For those of you that know Katelyn's history she tends to dehydrate very quickly and has been hospitalized a couple of times for it. Needless to say, after vomiting 8 times before 4pm I decided to call the pediatrician. They told me to bring her in right away. I took her to the office, they checked her for strep because her throat was sore and they started an IV. Her strep came back negative (the rapid one anyway) and the culture results are pending. About an hour and a 1/2 Liter of fluids later she was taking gatorade without vomiting and got to go home. She did awesome opening her mouth right up for the strep swab and watching them dig for her IV without even crying. No more vomiting since thank goodness. Katelyn now enjoys talking about the whole day. She told Daddy tonight all about it saying that she was so brave and that she got a shot in her hand. She called it her "Drinker" which was hilarious. I don't know where she got that from. She then told him she got "Special Water" in her arm so that she will never get sick again. Hopefully Cooper will not get sick. He was congested and coughing at bedtime tonight so I'm a little nervous about what the morning will bring. Cooper said something pretty funny today too. He reached down between his bed and the wall today and pulled out a toy magnifying glass. He looked at me smiling big and said "Mommy look, I found my detective!" It was adorable and cracked me up. I will try to post pictures later this week. Have a great Easter (I'll be working, bummer)!

Giddy Up!

Horsebackriding

Last night the kids went horsebackriding in our basement to show off for Grandma and Grandpa Neumann. They came over for Daddy's birthday celebration. We went out to eat at Famous Daves and came back home for ice cream cake from DQ. After putting the kids to bed I kicked Ryan's 31 year old butt on Guitar Hero. Go me! This week has been pretty uneventful except for the fact that Katelyn was sick on Wednesday with vomiting and sore throat. She recoved quickly (by late afternoon the same day) and was back to her usual energetic self. Have a great weekend!

Austin's wrestling meet

Austins Wrestling meet

Cooper and I had a great time on Saturday when we took a little trip down to Tri County School and watched my nephew Austins wrestling meet. He did an awesome job winning his first match very quickly 10-0 and although he lost his 2nd match he fought hard and stayed in it without being pinned. He got 2nd at his meet and got a pretty cool medal! Cooper did a fairly good job hanging out in the bleachers with some candy/popcorn bribes. Katelyn was mad that she didn't get to go because she had dance class that morning. Speaking of dance, the next set of pictures I took this week while hanging out in Coop's room before bedtime. The kids were having a ball dancing around and wrestling with Daddy. They capped off the evening with Daddy reading them books.

This last album of pictures was taken the same night as we presented Cooper with his first package of big boy underwear. He was super excited and put them on right away. He has been wearing them over his pull up and thinks he is pretty special.
