I'm a Big Boy now!

Graduation to Big Boy Bed

Not only did Cooper potty in his new potty chair for the first time the morning of his 2nd birthday, but he got new bedding and coordinating room decorations for his new big boy room with his big boy bed. Parting with the crib was bittersweet for us but watching his little face when he climbed up in his new bed was so worth it. He goes right to bed at night with no trouble at all. Nap times are a little more difficult as we have to lay beside him until he falls asleep but that's ok. His new room is decorated in a safari theme with lions, monkeys, elephants, etc. We are still waiting for a his coordinating lamp and are planning on painting his room in the near future to add a little color.

Birthday Celebration

Coopers 2nd Birthday

After a late night at the Amazing Pizza Machine in Omaha we had a monkey themed birthday party for Cooper to celebrate his turning "2". Its amazing how hard it is to find monkey themed decorations. Thank goodness for Google. I had a great time (although frustrating at times) making the party favors, cake, and cupcakes. We had a huge 5 1/2 ft inflated monkey just inside the front door to greet our guests. The kids also had a fantastic time out on the deck taking turns swinging at the monkey pinata. Cooper was tired that day but managed to stay awake and in a pretty good mood without a nap. He played with all of his new toys until finallly crashing in bed around 7:30 or 8. Thanks to everyone that came to celebrate with us.

Zoo fun

We took a trip to the Lincoln Childrens Zoo on Labor Day before I had to go to work later that evening. The weather was perfect and all of the kids had a blast. Later that night at work I took care of a little boy who went to the zoo that day too and fell off of the spider web that the kids are climbing in. He broke his arm. Luckily my kids had a ball on it but did not topple over the side like he did. Close call if you ask me. I caught Cooper about flying over the side a couple of times.

Library fun!

Library fun!

We have discovered that the public library is the place to be. The kids have a fantastic time going and checking out tons of books. Who knew that they had such a great selection of childrens movies and cds as well? Thanks for cluing me in before we purchased what seems like a thousand kids videos. Now every time that Katelyn wants to buy a movie I get to say "how about we check it out from the library?" I have also discovered how relaxing reading can be. I checked out the first Shopaholic book and let me tell you I relate well to the main character. I am over halfway done with the book and its only been a few days. I have been trying to read each night before bed for awhile to unwind and it seems to work. I also checked out a book about taming the family zoo (basically its how to teach your child good manners in 6 weeks). For any of you that have been around my kids lately they seem to be lacking in the good behavior dept. Hopefully this book will give me some insight. Just a word of warning if you frequent the library by the YMCA on South 14th "Beware of the table of foam blocks in the red room!" Cooper was playing in them the other day having a great time until I got a wiff of vomit and discovered that a child had apparently barfed in the blocks. I notified the staff immediately and then borrowed about a quart of hand sanitizer from the service desk and coated the kids from head to toe. SICK!!! That's all I have to say about that.

Katelyn's first day of school

Katie's first day of school 2007

Katelyn started her second year of preschool at Messiah Lutheran on Aug. 22nd. Last year she went twice a week in the mornings but this year she is going three days a week and she is loving it. She adores her teacher Mrs. Thimijan and a lot of her friends (she calls them her "peeps") are in her class again this year. Cooper and I are enjoying the Mommy-son time we get to spend together while Katelyn is otherwise occupied.

Prof Pics Aug07

These are professional pictures we had taken that were long overdue. The last time we had pics done was Xmas last year. We had them scheduled back in March but one of the kids got sick and I never got around to rescheduling. They didn't turn out half bad considering the kids were extremely naughty and wanted nothing to do with each other. As you can see we got very few pics of them together. Katelyn was in a goofy smile mood and kept biting her lips and squinting her eyes (oh well). Cooper was actually on the move in every picture believe it or not. We had to trick him by playing catch and snapping pics right after he threw the ball at us.
