Staycation Vacation!

Ok, so normally we take a family vacation each summer for about a week but this summer was crazy busy so we decided to keep it a little more low key. I was fortunate enough to score an overnight vacation package to CoCoKey Water Resort in Omaha at a scrapbooking fundraiser auction last spring. We had already talked about going so winning the auction was AWESOME and saved us a little $ too. We thought it would be fun to stay up in Omaha an extra night and visit the zoo the next day. So the week before school started we got everything booked. The kids were SOOOO excited. They had been to CoCoKey once before for a Girl Scout function and were looking forward to going with Daddy too! We spent the first day playing in the water park and topped off the evening with dinner at the Cheesecake Factory (YUM, YUM). We spent the night at the Holiday Inn attached to CoCo Key where we didn't get much sleep due to the WORST hotel bed I have ever slept on and perhaps the noisiest hotel as well. Fortunately we did not book our second night in the same hotel. We spent a few hours at CoCoKey the next day before heading to hotel #2 which was much cheaper and MUCH nicer! We got showered and changed and were off to the Amazing Pizza Machine where we played games and ate dinner and were there for FIVE hours! Craziness! The next morning we took a short detour to Kenefick Park to show Cooper the trains on display and then we were off to the Zoo! The weather forecast looked grim but the rain held off and other than being pretty hot it was pretty good. We spent the afternoon at the Zoo and ate lunch in the Treehouse Cafe above the Lied Jungle. After a very fun and EXHAUSTING 3 days we were on our way back to Lincoln to prepare for school starting the next week. It was a great way to top off our summer and I think the kids had a FANTASTIC time! I apologize that the pictures jump around a bit but I was having issues with the web album feature in Picasa so please bear with it!
