Sorry it has taken me sooo long to post on our blog. I wish I could say I've been too busy, but the truth is that I have just been too lazy :) Our Easter weekend was eventful to say the least. The day before Easter we took the kids to Southpointe to meet the Easter bunny. Cooper woke up with a cough and wasn't feeling well. After going to Southpointe we went over to Sam and Louies pizzeria for dinner where Cooper did not touch his food. We walked a couple doors down to Zestos for ice cream where Cooper proceeded to throw up all over me scaring off the rest of the customers. We took him home and in between his bouts of puking we decorated Easter eggs. Cooper was pretty much tuckered out after that so he laid on the floor watching cartoons with Daddy while Katelyn and I made Easter cards for our family. Coop continued vomiting about 9 times from 5-9pm and finally fell asleep for a couple of hours. But he woke up again at 11:30 throwing up and by 1am he was in quite a bit of respiratory distress. He was grunting and retracting with some nasal flaring so I rushed him to the ER. When we arrived his oxygen was low and they took him straight back. He continued vomiting some more and they started an IV for IV fluids and Zofran for nausea. They got him some breathing treatments, a chest xray and IV steroids which kicked in pretty quick. We thought he was going to have to be admitted but were able to turn the oxygen off after a couple of hours and he was maintaining his oxygen sats so we got to go home with neb treatments and oral steroids. They said that there was no pneumonia and that it was just an exacerbation of his asthma. Both of us got pretty limited sleep that night but Cooper was bright eyed and bushy tailed at 7am and was ready to celebrate easter. We spent Easter in Beatrice with family. We had lunch with my family and Ryan's family together and then went to my Mom's for an egg hunt, games, and food. The kids had a blast despite being super tired. We did follow up with the Dr. the following Friday b/c Cooper was still coughing pretty bad and they decided to treat him for a sinus infection. He is now done with his antibiotics and is back to normal. He does have to continue steroid neb treatments until we get into the summer to prevent further exacerbations of his asthma. And that, folks, is our Easter story for 2009.
